Beach Sweep 2023

Open to all Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers or Sea Scouts, leaders and their families from the York District and Palmetto Council.  On September 8-10, 2023 at Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach our council is hosting the annual Beach Sweep Weekend.  You can arrive Friday Night or Saturday am, but if attending please be at the campground by Saturday 9am. All the Scout Organizations will be walking the beach in the morning to clean up trash along that section of Myrtle Beach. Its a great way to camp out and earn volunteer hours at the same time! New Families to Pack 108- this is a great intro to Camping Event as there is a Wal-Mart about a mile away should you need something, and you can eat some or all your meals at local restaurants if you don’t want to cook at the campsite.

Price for this event is $36.00/family- which includes both nights and a patch for the Scout. This price is the same if you arrive Friday night or Saturday Am as we have to book sites through Palmetto Council for the entire weekend. Food options are on the individual families- you can cook at the site, go out to the restaurants or a little bit of both. After doing the Service Project in the morning the rest of the trip is up to you how to enjoy. The camping area is on the beach, so you’ll have access to the Ocean and the resort has a small water park within the grounds that’s free to use as well. It’s a fun weekend of camping.

NO RESERVATIONS THROUGH LAKEWOOD CAMPGROUND WILL BE ACCEPTED-YOU MUST RSVP THROUGH PACK 108 by AUG 25th for Current Families and AUG 31st for New Families.
Once you RSVP you will automatically be redirected to the Pack PayPal for payment. Ryan Hamel will reach out to you to confirm your RSVP. If you don’t RSVP- you cannot attend this campout.

Directions: Address is 5901 South King’s Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC. After Conway, on Highway 501, take Highway 544 until it ends at Business 17. Turn left. Lakewood is about 1.5 miles on right.

Do not stop at Lakewood office to check-in! Proceed to Security Guard building, then stop at the BSA Scout HQ to obtain parking passes, site assignment(s), patches, and then you can set up. Mackenzie will be there to check you in. Same location as past years.

Throughout registration and even after the deadline, expect additional communication; the goal is to ensure that up-to-date information on protective requirements/recommendations is available and followed as required.

Guide to Safe Scouting must be followed at all times regardless of the campground’s rules. Per the Guide to Safe Scouting, no youth are allowed to drive golf carts regardless of campground or personal rules.
