Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is one of the highlights of the scouting year.  Everyone gets excited about entering a car in the Pinewood Derby.  The event is a great opportunity for scout and parent to spend time together on a fun project.

Pinewood is funded solely by fall popcorn sales.

Important Pinewood Derby Events

• Car kits are provided to Scouts at December pack meeting (if recharter dues are paid)
• Car Cutting Event – Saturday, January 16, 2021
• Test N Tune – Tuesday, Feb 23, 2021 – The track will be set up so cars can be tested.  
• Impound Night – Tuesday, March 2, 2020 – Cars are measured, weighed, named and impounded.
• Race Day (Virtual) – Saturday, March 6, 2021
• Race Video Showing & Awards Ceremony – Tuesday, March 9, 2021

Trophies and Design Awards

Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third-place speed finishers in each rank and over-all for the Pack.  

Many “Design Awards” are also given out.  Examples are below, but change from year to year.
