Membership Requirements

Grade & Age: 1st through 5th grade boys (ages 7 through 10) are eligible to join the following programs (grades are “completed” officially on June 1st each year):

  • The Lion program is for boys in 5 to 6 years old or kindergarten.
  • The Tiger Cub program is for boys who are in the 1st grade (Completed Kindergarten) or are 7 years old, and their adult partners. The basic element of Tiger Cubs is the Tiger Cub-Adult Partner team. The adult may be a parent, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or even a neighbor. The Tiger partner must be 18 years of age or older, care about the boy, and be strongly committed to his well-being.
  • The Wolf program is for boys who are in the 2nd grade (completed 1st grade).
  • The Bear program is for boys who are in the 3rd grade (completed 2nd grade).
  • The Webelos and Arrow of Light programs are for boys who are in the 4th (completed 3rd grade) and 5th (completed 4th) grades. Although Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts are an integral part of Cub Scouting, the programs prepare the den for its transition to a Boy Scout Troop.

The Webelos program begins as early as June 1st at the end of 3rd grade (completed 3rd grade). The Arrow of Light program begins as early as June 1st at the end of 4th grade (completed 4th grade). The Arrow of Light Scouts graduate from the pack sometime in the spring of their 5th grade year and crossover to a Boy Scout Troop of their choice.

In order to join Boy Scouts, a boy must have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have completed the 5th grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.
