On May 17-19, 2024 Pack 108 will be headed to Mountain Rest, SC to experience the Sumter National Forrest and try their hands at some amazing Trout Fishing. We will be camping at Cherry Hill Campground (418 Cherry Hill Rec Rd. Mountain Rest 29664) Sites 6,7,9,10,11,12,13. These sites have access to hiking trails and waterfalls for endless exploration. Our Sites are standard NONELECTRIC sites but there is access to a bathroom and showers. There are no group meals so families should plan to bring their own meals (or try and catch dinner in the river). Cost is $25.00 per family for this campout. We will travel to the nearby Chattooga River during the day on Saturday for some amazing Trout Fishing.
We are planning to do a Group Trip (about 15 min from the campsite) to the Walhalla Fish Hatchery on Saturday (time tbdt) to show the Scouts how the SC DNR maintains a healthy fish population in this region.
Thanks to the SC Dept of Natural Resources, Scouts that sign up for this trip will receive a Beginners Guide to Fishing packet! Per SC Rules, Scouts under 16 years of age do not require a fishing license. Adults will need to have and bring a fishing license should they want to fish. If they are just helping their Scout, then no license is needed.
If you are in need of any fishing gear, Pack 108 has partnered up with Zebco Fishing products for 50% off all gear using the code: ZFF2150. Visit www.zebco.com to see their different options available.
